woo, i haven't been on here in awhile. [April. 11th, • 10:56 pm]
[chilling at |my room - yes, my computer is FINALLY fixed.]
[feeling a little |exhausted.]
[jamming to |you oughta know - alanis.]

My apologies to my frequent readers (insert scoff here). I'm sure you all missed me. I suppose I've just been pretty busy. In case you haven't noticed, I've decided to quit my patented lowercase and center routine and type in actual proper English, since a) some of you would probably appreciate it b) I'm in the mood and c) it's easier. So, bravo, to my newly grammar-atized self.

As I said, I've been pretty busy lately. I'm entirely overdosed on soccer. Yesterday we had a practice and today I went to training. The new trainer is...interesting. Previously, they've always been from the UK and had cool accents and stuff, but this ones just a boring old American. Honestly, those accents used to be WHY I even attended training sessions. Truly, it sort of prepared me to dislike him simply because he wasn't British. What a weirdo I am. So anyways, basically we went to the field for an hour and did the same moves OVER. AND OVER. AND OVER AGAIN. It was not fun. He's very no-nonsense, this new guy. He has dreadlocks.

My parents are going to Vegas for three days. They're attending the premiere of that new Al Pacino movie, 88 Minutes. My grandma, on my dad's side, is staying with us...which should be interesting. You'll have to fully understand my Grandma to get the gist of what I mean. Okay, I have two grandparents, both Grandma's...one of my grandfathers died before I was born and one died several years ago. My grandma on my mom's side is a warm-and-cushy, lick-the-brownie-batter-from-the-spoon, snuggle-in-bed kind of grandmother. My dad's side, she's quite the stereotypical crazy Jewish Grandmother. I love her to death, though. She scoffs at my mom for my brother's impeccable manners (i.e. when she asked him to kindly get her a napkin, to which he tersely replied "No thanks."), and calls herself my "one and only grandma" (after which she once said, and I quote, "i think you call your other one something else"). An extremely feminist liberal, she changes the "brotherhood"'s and "fatherhood"'s in our Seder brochure thing (I forget what its called for Passover) to "human being hood"'s. In all, she's quite a character.

Mom drew out a gigantic, color-coded, highlighted list for what we have to do (and what Grandma has to do) each day. She even went as far as putting the chips in brown paper lunch bags on the table, with post-it labels reading things like "Harriet, please add banana and pb&j sandwich". We all know that even as she's walking down that red carpet, she'll be internally freaking out about whether I made it to my soccer practice carpool. She's just like that.

Personally, and call me cynical, I'm excited to watch how it plays out. It should be amusing. I'll keep you guys updated.

So, my day. Eh. I was informed that I got an 84% on my math quiz, which sucks for me. I'm a hardcore geek, in all the accelerated academic programs possible at school, and am accustomed to the A's naturally flowing in. I know I could have gotten worse, but for me, a low B is a fairly large dent.

In science, we had to do a project on the ethics of cloning, and shared the presentations today. I was reading my book under my desk to prevent death by boredom, when the teacher catches me and walks over and takes my book away. When I approached her at the end of class, she said she'd give it back at the end of the day. I didn't mind, but personally, found the incident to be quite ironic. Student gets book taken away for a day en lieu of discipline. Color me geek.

Err...let's skip to gym. We're playing badminton. I have no idea why, but I just simply adore this sport. If you've never played it, you most definitely should. It's awfully fun. Plus, me and my partner, Audrey, were on a total winning streak today. It was pretty awesome, considering we're usually awful. xD

On a lighter note, my dad bought a lawnmower. And let me tell you, my father does not fool around when it comes to lawnmowers. Deciding that it wasn't worth the yearly zillions of dollars to pay the landscapers when he could labor ME into doing it, so he bought an authentic John Deere, riding lawnmower for the backyard. For the first time, I'm excited to do this chore. It'll be like driving. Except in the backyard...and in a lawnmower.

I finished "I Am The Messenger" the other day. It was phenomenal, in my opinion. It pales in comparison to the Book Theif, but is still a great read which I would recommend to other people. Namely, you guys.

Alright, I need to wrap up my book report (darn LJ, distracting me from my studies) and head on down to bed. Tomorrow should be a looooong day. Aside from Grandma coming, mom says I am individually responsible for getting my brother, in addition to myself, ready for school tomorrow morning and walking ourselves over to our family friends', where we will catch our separate buses, as Grandma's arrival will not be until this afternoon. Yippee...?

{ piano [April. 2nd, • 08:48 pm]
 i wish i didn't quit piano.
i wanted to stay in it but my mom made me quit.
she said i wasn't motivated and didn't practice enough.
which, i guess, was true.
i was at a point where i much preferred watching tv,
or reading, or going on the computer to practicing.
don't get me wrong, i loved PLAYING,
just practicing was so time-consuming.
now i miss it.

i hate it when she brags about my brother's piano skills to me.
its like, okay, rub it in my face why dontcha.
i miss going to peoples houses and they had pianos and showing off,
and doing recitals and duets with my friends
and everything. i hate sitting down on the bench and my fingers
not knowing which keys to play like they used to.

hopefully i'll be less busy next year with bar mitzvahs and stuff
and i can pick it up again.
i just hope i remember how. :/

__ on a lighter note:

so, i stayed home sick today.
i slept for SEVEN HOURS and made soup and stuff.
it was nice to take a break from school.
except i still have a TON of homework to catch up on,
so i should probably go.
i have to write a report on hiroshima/nagasaki. :(
chances are i won't have time to watch antm tonight,
so if you know please comment with who got booted :D
much appreciated.

yeah, seeya later.

[jamming to |head over feet - alanis morisette.]

___

so, hi and welcome to my LJ.
i like reading, writing, soccer,
and a bunch of other stuff xD.

music-wise, i'm pretty versatile.
my faves include matchbox 20,
alanis morisette, eagles, elton
john, elvis costello, john mayer,
tom petty.

i'm definitely one of those people
who watch way too much TV.
i'm obsessed (yes, i mean that
quite literally) with greek (i
♥ cappie!), gossip girl, friends,
two and a half men, and of
course the office. dwight is pretty
gosh-darn awesome.

despite the above facts, i
actually DO read, and i love it.
right now i'm reading i am the
messenger by markus zusak.
it's by the same author of my
all-time favorite book, called
The Book Theif. if you haven't
read it, PLEASE DO. it's a
holocaust story but its from a
different-ish perspective and is
undoubtedly the best book i've
ever read. hands down (: i'm
also a major harry potter fan,
you know, one of those crazy
people who went to Borders
at midnight and stayed up all
night the following night finishing
the 800 zillion page book. =D

yeah, i guess that's it for my first post.
more later folks ! i have to go and do
my stupid homework D: cya.
